The Political Party Future of Moldova will no longer receive allocations from the state budget starting with the month of February. From the suspended allocation, an amount of approximately 587 thousand lei is to be withheld, for the reimbursement of funds illegally used in the 2024 presidential campaign. The decision was approved on Tuesday, during the meeting of the Central Electoral Commission, reports IPN.
According to the CEC, the amount to be recovered includes 347,747 lei from illegal donations, including from two minors, and 239,842 lei representing undeclared financial resources.
The electoral authority found that, in 30 out of the 49 examined contravention cases, donors exceeded the legal ceiling of 30% of the annual income earned in the previous year, violating the legislation on political party financing.
The representatives of the formation requested that the damage be recovered from the state allocations, citing a lack of financial resources for direct payment. The CEC accepted this request and decided to suspend the allocations until the full reimbursement of the sum. The decision was adopted with six votes in favor and one against.
In the 2024 presidential elections, Vasile Tarlev, the candidate of the Political Party Future of Moldova, received 3.19% of the votes.
