The Central Electoral Commission today received Alexandru Tventarnii’s application to run as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections. The applicant requested the release of subscription lists in order to collect signatures in his support, reports IPN.
According to the CEC, in just over a week since the start of registration for the September 28 elections, 12 individuals have expressed their intention to run as independent candidates for the deputy seat: Alexandru Tventarnii, Stepan Savitchi, Dina Carpinschi, Marcel Darie, Nicolae Uritu, Natalia Clevadi, Victoria Sanduta, Victor Grosu, Eleonora Rusu, Sergiu Renta, Olesea Stamate, and Andrei Nastase.
To be registered, an independent candidate must present between 2,000 and 2,500 signatures of eligible voters. In the case of female candidates, the law contains a derogation: at least a thousand signatures are required.
So far, only the Action and Solidarity Party has submitted the documents to the CEC and has been registered in the electoral race. The Home Democracy Party has repeatedly submitted the documents for registration at the election, after the Central Electoral Commission rejected its initial request.
The period for submitting documents for the registration of candidates for the position of deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova began on July 20 and will end on August 19.
