Over 9,500 applications for admission to the tenth grade were submitted through the escoala.chisinau.md platform in the first stage of enrollment in the city’s high schools. The General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports convened on Wednesday the directors of high school educational institutions to analyze the results of the completed stage and coordinate the next steps of the admission competition, reports IPN.
According to the DGETS, the large number of applications submitted shows the interest of middle school graduates in the educational offer of high schools in the city of Chisinau. For the 2026 admission session, the high schools in the municipality have planned 233 classes and 5,822 places, the most extensive offer in recent years.
During the period of July 23-25, the admission committees will evaluate the submitted files and will calculate the competition averages. The results will be displayed on July 27, and the admitted candidates will confirm the obtained place during the period of July 28-30, by presenting the documents to the educational institution.
Students who are not admitted in the first stage will be able to participate in the second stage, scheduled for the period 3-14 August.

The Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Romania, as well as the Delegation of the European Union in Chisinau, have sent congratulatory messages to the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Vasile Tofan, following the inauguration of the Government. The officials expressed their readiness to continue cooperation with the new executive, reports IPN.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Serghei Koretki, recently appointed to office, conveyed in a message published on the X platform that he is ready to collaborate with the Government of Chisinau to deepen the bilateral partnership. Among the priorities, the Ukrainian official mentioned expanding cross-border cooperation, strengthening energy resilience and improving connectivity between the two states.
And the interim Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, has sent his congratulations to Vasile Tofan and wished him success in his term, reaffirming Bucharest’s support for bilateral cooperation. “It is important to continue advancing the projects we have on the bilateral agenda, from those of interconnection in transport and energy, to those in the fields of culture and education. We are pleased and welcome Chisinau’s progress in the EU accession process and, as I have said on other occasions, Romania remains the most active and devoted supporter”, Ilie Bolojan mentioned in a message published on platform X.
The European Union Delegation in Chisinau has conveyed that it is ready to collaborate with the new Government to advance the process of the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the EU, strengthen the country’s resilience, and achieve concrete benefits for its citizens.
The new Government took the oath of office one day after receiving the vote of confidence from Parliament. Vasile Tofan was designated as the candidate for the position of Prime Minister by President Maia Sandu, at the proposal of the Action and Solidarity Party, following the resignation of Alexandru Munteanu.
