Chisinau marks 590 years since its first documentary attestation through the festival “Te salut, Chisinau”, which brought together, on the first day, thousands of residents and guests of the capital on the pedestrian street “Eugen Doga”. The festival kicked off in a festive atmosphere, with recitals performed by artists from the Republic of Moldova and Romania and a program dedicated to promoting the traditions and cultural heritage of the city, reports IPN.
On stage, the Municipal Folk Music Orchestra, conducted by the Advahov brothers, performed alongside singers Zinaida Julea, Mihai Ciobanu, Cristina Scarlat, Igor Cuciuc, Violeta Botezatu, Camelia Ursu, and Alexandra Cuhuteac. Also performing were the ensembles “Martisor”, “Izvorasul” from Cahul, and “Plaiesii”, while the special guests from Romania were Constantin Enceanu, Mioara Velicu, Angelica Flutur, Fuego, and Andra.
The mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, stated that thousands of people chose to celebrate the city’s anniversary together. “Traditions and history are what represent us. Happy birthday, Chisinau!” the mayor conveyed.
The festival continues on Saturday, July 18, with an evening dedicated to retro music. Starting at 06:00 PM, the “Camerata Chisinau” Municipal Chamber Orchestra will perform on stage, along with the Dorel Burlacu Band, as well as several established performers from the Republic of Moldova, including Ion Suruceanu, Olga Ciolacu, Nina Crulicovschi, Radu Dolgan, Pasha Parfeni, Tania Turtureanu, and Catalin Josan. The special guest of the evening will be the Holograf band from Romania.
Until Sunday, visitors can admire the exhibition of folk craftsmen, shop from local producers, and taste traditional Moldovan dishes. Access to all events is free.
