Ten ministers from the current executive will also be found in the Government proposed by the designated Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, while four portfolios will return to new members of the cabinet. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Ministers for reintegration and for European integration, Valeriu Chiveri and Cristina Gherasimov, will keep their positions, reports IPN.

For the position of Minister of Health, Alexandru Gasnas, presidential advisor, is appointed. Radu Musteata, the director of the National Agency for Food Safety, is proposed for the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and for the position of Minister of Finance, Victoria Belous, a PAS deputy, who previously held the position of minister, is put forward.

Dan Suruceanu, a cultural manager and administrator, particularly known as the executive director of the Chisinau Arena multimedia and sports complex, is proposed to lead the Ministry of Culture.

Vasile Tofan announced that he has completed consultations with parliamentary factions, as well as with representatives of associations and organizations, and the government’s work program is in the finalization stage. “On July 21, I will go to Parliament with a team of good professionals, who will give all government institutions a fast pace of work and move things forward,” declared the designated candidate.

Vasile Tofan has been nominated for the position of Prime Minister by President Maia Sandu, at the proposal of the Action and Solidarity Party, following the resignation of Alexandru Munteanu. The government’s swearing-in session is scheduled for July 21.

The conduct of elections for the Popular Assembly of Gagauzia based on the proportional electoral system was discussed by President Maia Sandu with deputies from Comrat. The discussions focused on the application of a uniform electoral system throughout the country, in accordance with the recent decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the competencies of the UTA Gagauzia, reports IPN.

According to the Presidency, some members of the People’s Assembly present at the meeting supported the proposal for the regional vote to be organized according to the proportional model applied at the national level.

The President of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, Valentin Gaidarji, stated after the meeting that the representatives of the region will discuss with the entire body of deputies from Comrat the issues addressed at the meeting with the head of state. He pointed out that the dialogue between Chisinau and Comrat continues and that there is a common understanding on some topics, without providing details.

According to the Presidency, the Constitutional Court’s decision establishes that the electoral system must be uniform throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova and approved by organic law by Parliament, in accordance with the country’s status as a unitary state.

The institution specifies that the Court’s decision is final and binding for all authorities. The Parliament is set to urgently review a project to amend the Electoral Code, so that the elections for the Gagauz People’s Assembly can be organized this autumn based on the new provisions.

The consultations between the central authorities and the representatives of Gagauzia will continue on Tuesday, with the participation of the mayors from the region.

The men’s national football team of the Republic of Moldova maintains its position in the FIFA ranking, occupying the 159th place, with 1008.24 points. At the same time, the women’s team has climbed 14 positions to the 119th place, reports IPN.

At the top of the men’s ranking is the new world champion – Spain – with 1995.88 points, followed by Argentina and France. England occupies the fourth position.

According to the Moldovan Football Federation, the team prepared by Lilian Popescu, will compete in the upcoming matches in the Nations League. The “tricolor” group’s opponents are Slovakia, ranked 45th, Kazakhstan, ranked 111th, and the Faroe Islands, ranked 123rd in the world rankings.

At the same time, in the global women’s ranking, Spain remains in first place, while the Republic of Moldova has recorded the most significant progression in the hierarchy, advancing 14 positions to the 119th place, with 1137.64 points.

The best ranking in the history of the men’s national team is 37th place, achieved in April 2008, while the women’s team reached their best performance in 2017, when they ranked 81st in the FIFA hierarchy.
