The Supreme Council in Kiev has invested the new Government led by Serhiy Koretsky, with 264 votes in favor and 15 against. Although the majority of ministers were approved, the names of the dignitaries from the Defense and Foreign Affairs portfolios remain uncertain, which must be proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reports Kiev Independent, quoted by IPN.

Until their appointment, the interim positions are held by the former ministers from the previous cabinet, Mihailo Fedorov, at Defense, and Andrii Sibiha, at Foreign Affairs. The appointment of the new cabinet of ministers was marked by controversy, after the Ukrainian president previously dismissed the defense minister. The decision of the leader from Kiev sparked national protests in Ukraine on Thursday.

The new executive is composed both of ministers reconfirmed in office, as well as members appointed for the first time: the governor of the Nikolaev region, Vitali Kim, is now the minister of veterans, and Vsevolod Centov, ambassador of Ukraine to the EU, has taken over the position of deputy prime minister for European integration. Among the reconfirmed dignitaries are Denis Shmyhal at Energy, Serghei Marcenko at Finance, and Viktor Leashko at Health.

The candidates for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense will be subsequently proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and are to be approved by the Supreme Rada.
