Liliana Gutan asks the designated Prime Minister to evaluate the leadership of the MAE before proposing the minister

Former ambassador Liliana Gutan and her lawyers are asking the proposed candidate for the position of Prime Minister, Vasile Tofan, to investigate the alleged abuses that may have been committed within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The move comes ahead of the appointment of the future foreign minister.

In a press conference at IPN, lawyer Ana Iavorski stated that, following the recall of Liliana Gutan from her ambassador position, a disciplinary procedure was also initiated against her, in the context of a medical leave. According to the defense, the disciplinary committee even requested information about the diagnosis and medical treatment of the former ambassador, a fact that the lawyers classify as a possible violation of medical data confidentiality.

The defense also maintains that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would not have previously examined the allegations regarding alleged acts of harassment in the workplace. According to the lawyers, the Council for Equality would have been subsequently obliged, by court decisions, to analyze the case.

The defense representatives claim that Liliana Gutan’s situation would not be a unique one and they ask the future head of the Government to evaluate the activity of the current leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before appointing the new minister.

Liliana Gutan stated that she will continue her efforts in the courts and specified that the purpose of the press conference was to present the documents she considers relevant for her defense.

Contacted by IPN for a reaction, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet responded to messages and calls.

Tatiana Nistorica has been released from her position as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. A decision in this regard was approved on Wednesday by the Government, at the proposal of Minister Radu Musteata, reports IPN.

At the presentation of the proposal for dismissal, the new Minister of Agriculture did not provide details regarding the reasons for the decision. The procedure had been initiated earlier by the former minister Ludmila Catlabuga, following the arrest of the Secretary of State in a corruption case.

Tatiana Nistorică was detained and placed under arrest in a corruption case, in which a representative of a business entity is also being investigated. According to law enforcement, the entrepreneur allegedly offered money to influence the decisions of the National Agency for Food Safety regarding the resumption of fodder imports from Ukraine, which had previously been suspended due to the detection of irregularities.
