Vasile Tofan – the candidate for the position of Prime Minister. The President has signed the decree

President Maia Sandu has appointed Vasile Tofan as candidate for the position of Prime Minister, following consultations with the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party, which proposed him for this position. The head of state signed the appointment decree, and the candidate is expected to request, within 15 days, the vote of confidence from the Parliament, reports IPN.

During a press briefing, Maia Sandu stated that the future Government must focus on three major objectives: continuing European integration, strengthening the resilience of state institutions, and relaunching the economy to increase the standard of living for citizens.

In turn, the President of the Parliament and leader of the PAS, Igor Grosu, mentioned that Vasile Tofan meets the commitments undertaken by the formation in front of the citizens, and the main priority remains the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

The appointed Prime Minister stated that he views this position as a great responsibility, not a personal achievement, and that he intends to start work as soon as possible. “I intend to get to work as quickly as possible. I am a hardworking person and I want to dedicate all my energy to making the lives of Moldovans better,” said Vasile Tofan.

The candidate also stated that his priorities are restoring trust in the act of governance, relaunching the economy, and forming professional teams in public administration, emphasizing the importance of supporting entrepreneurs and investments.

When asked about the duration of his term, Vasile Tofan said that he wishes to lead the Government until the end of it and to ensure the stability of the executive. “We can no longer afford experiments or to stumble over the same mistakes so many times. I intend to carry out my term to the end,” he mentioned.

According to the Constitution, Vasile Tofan has 15 days to present the government program and the composition of the cabinet of ministers to the Parliament, after which he will request the vote of confidence from the deputies.

NFTs and cryptoassets that qualify as financial instruments, deposits, funds, insurance or reinsurance products, or pension and social security systems will not be subject to the upcoming law on the cryptoasset market. This provision is included in the draft law approved by the government on Wednesday, according to IPN.

The bill establishes the regulatory framework for the cryptoasset market and introduces rules for individuals and companies that issue, trade, or provide services related to these assets. The document specifies who may operate in this market, what obligations they will have, and which authorities are responsible for oversight.

According to the Ministry of Finance, supervisory responsibilities will fall to the National Bank of Moldova and the National Financial Market Commission. At the same time, companies will be required to provide clear information to customers and to comply with requirements designed to protect users and prevent market manipulation or the misuse of confidential information.

The law divides cryptoassets into three categories: electronic currency tokens, which derive their value from a fiat currency; asset-backed tokens, which are linked to one or more assets and other types of cryptoassets.
