Meteorologists have issued an orange code for heatwave for the period of June 28-29, when the maximum temperatures will rise up to +38 degrees Celsius. A red code has been issued for June 30 and July 1, with thermal values expected to reach +41 degrees Celsius. Nighttime lows are forecasted to be over +20 degrees, reports IPN.
According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the heatwave will affect various regions of the country, where yellow, orange and red code warnings will be in effect, depending on the intensity of the forecasted temperatures. The institution specifies that the warnings could be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.
In this context, the AMMM recommends avoiding sun exposure during peak hours, proper hydration, and limiting physical effort outdoors. Special attention should be given to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions, who are the most exposed to the risks caused by high temperatures.
At the same time, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations recommends that citizens wear loose and light-colored clothing and avoid alcohol consumption. Also, they are urged not to leave children, elderly people, or pets in parked cars. Furthermore, rescuers appeal to the public not to light fires in open spaces and to choose only arranged and supervised places for swimming. In case of emergency situations caused by heatwaves, the authorities recommend calling the unique emergency number 112.
