“A new party joins the Together Bloc”

The “Impreuna” (Together) Bloc is expanding with the accession of the Ecologist Green Party of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

Members of the bloc have also issued a statement calling on mayors, local elected officials, professionals from all fields, prominent figures, and citizens across the country to join the bloc.

Through this statement, the bloc’s leaders reiterated their commitment to participating in the 2025 parliamentary elections.

“From this day forward, we are entering a continuous work regime to prepare for the parliamentary elections, develop the political program, and form the government of the ‘Impreuna’ Bloc,” the statement reads.

Founded in April 2024, the “Impreuna” Bloc describes itself as a pro-European political alliance. Following the withdrawal of the Coalition for Unity and Prosperity, the bloc now consists of the Dignity and Truth Platform, the Party of Change, and the League of Cities and Communes.

At the Leuseni and Sculeni border crossing points, there is heavy traffic exiting the Republic of Moldova. To facilitate traffic flow, the authorities have opened additional lanes and are implementing the reverse procedure, reports IPN.

Travelers are urged to opt for other border crossing points, such as Costesti, Leova or Cahul.

The Border Police specifies that the measures taken aim to balance the transport flow and reduce waiting times for people crossing the border.

A man extradited from Greece has been sentenced to eight years in prison in the Republic of Moldova for human trafficking. According to prosecutors, he allegedly promised a young woman from Nisporeni a job in Greece, but the intention was her sexual exploitation, reports IPN.

The sentence was pronounced by the Chisinau Court, after the man was extradited in 2023. The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases requested a ten-year prison sentence and announces that it will challenge the decision.

According to the PCCOCS, the events allegedly took place in 2012, when the victim, aged 18, was lured with the promise of a job in Greece. The prosecutors maintain that she was subjected to sexual exploitation, and subsequently returned to the Republic of Moldova and alerted the authorities.

Law enforcement officials further specify that, prior to extradition, the man had been sentenced by the Athens Court of Appeal to 20 years in prison and a fine of over 70 thousand euros for the establishment of a criminal organization, human trafficking and other offenses. As for other members of the group, the criminal investigation continues, and two suspects are still being sought.

The decision of the Chisinau Court is not final and can be appealed to the Court of Appeal.
