Candidates for the new local elections on May 17 can submit their registration documents. According to the Central Electoral Commission, the constituency electoral councils have begun receiving the files, and the submission period ends on April 7, reports IPN.
Political parties and electoral blocs must submit their documents to the electoral councils in the administrative-territorial units where they intend to participate in the vote. Independent candidates will, in addition to the necessary documents, also submit subscription lists with signatures of supporters, presenting themselves personally at the electoral council.
For the position of local counselor, the candidate lists must be drawn up in Romanian, both on paper and in electronic format, respecting the minimum representation quota of 40% for both sexes.
In the case of local referendums, registration requests are still submitted to the district electoral councils. Participants can appoint representatives and trusted individuals and enjoy equal rights in the electoral campaign.
New local elections will be held on May 17 in Costesti and Rusestii Noi from the Ialoveni district, in the village of Mascauti, Criuleni, at Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti, in Taraclia, the city of Orhei, Topala from Cimislia, Copceac, UTA Gagauzia, Plop, Donduseni and Frumusica, Floresti. On the same day, local referendums will be organized regarding the revocation of the mayors from the village of Hasnasenii Mari, Drochia district, and the commune of Sadac, Cantemir district.
