The reform of local public administration should not be rushed or superficial, but should be based on expertise and social consensus, argue the representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova. They emphasize that the focus should not be on reducing the number of town halls, but on the reform of districts, on improving the process of voluntary amalgamation, and on strengthening local democracy and administrative efficiency, reports IPN.

The representatives of CALM mention that the reform of local public administration remains a priority on the authorities’ agenda, and the way it will be implemented will influence the functioning of the administrative system and citizens’ trust in state institutions. According to them, a well-planned reform can contribute to the modernization of the administration and bring it closer to European standards.

The Executive Director of CALM, Viorel Furdui, along with the vice-presidents of the organization, the mayor of Leova, Alexandru Bujorean, and the mayor of Hancesti, Alexandru Botnari, have stated that the process must be carried out in collaboration with local authorities and based on solid grounding.

At the same time, they emphasize that the focus should be on improving the voluntary amalgamation process, ensuring that each stage strengthens local democracy and administrative efficiency.
