The issue of drug consumption in the Republic of Moldova has reached an alarming level, warns the mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban. According to the mayor, the phenomenon has gotten out of control and risks becoming a national danger if immediate action is not taken, reports IPN.
“We are no longer talking about just a few isolated cases. Consumption and distribution have spread even in the vicinity of educational institutions,” emphasized Ion Ceban on a TV show.
According to the mayor, firm and coordinated actions are necessary. The Chisinau City Hall is ready to get involved, as it has done so far, but draws attention to the fact that the Government, the Police, and the Prosecutor’s Office also need to take responsibility.
“We cannot leave children, young people, families alone in the face of this scourge,” the mayor further stated.
