Funding for European security will be tripled. The goal was mentioned by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a conference held on Monday alongside Romanian President Nicusor Dan. Romania is set to receive €800 million, according to IPN.

The European official, quoted by Mediafax, said that the funding is available and that it is necessary to ensure long-term sustainability. The €800 million package for Romania will be granted by 2030.

Part of this package is represented by the SAFE instrument, worth €150 million. “I am very happy that 19 countries have signed up to SAFE for joint procurement. This includes Romania and is a very good initiative,” said Ursula von der Leyen.

The President of the European Commission also noted the strengthening of defense through the new European budget, which will come into force in two years. “We aim to triple funding for European security, increase defense investments fivefold—and this includes, of course, military capabilities—and increase investments in military mobility tenfold,” von der Leyen added.

Tatiana Nistorica has been released from her position as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. A decision in this regard was approved on Wednesday by the Government, at the proposal of Minister Radu Musteata, reports IPN.

At the presentation of the proposal for dismissal, the new Minister of Agriculture did not provide details regarding the reasons for the decision. The procedure had been initiated earlier by the former minister Ludmila Catlabuga, following the arrest of the Secretary of State in a corruption case.

Tatiana Nistorică was detained and placed under arrest in a corruption case, in which a representative of a business entity is also being investigated. According to law enforcement, the entrepreneur allegedly offered money to influence the decisions of the National Agency for Food Safety regarding the resumption of fodder imports from Ukraine, which had previously been suspended due to the detection of irregularities.
