The foreign support for Gagauzia is important, both from the European Union and from Russia and Turkey, said candidate for the post of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia Nicolae Dudoglo. The election runner has told IPN that the relations with the central authorities of Moldova are very good and should be maintained so that the region could develop further and there was peace.

Nicolae Dudoglo said that today all the election runners understand that one of the contenders is involved in a dishonest struggle as this candidate denigrates the opponents and uses elements that are inacceptable in the race for the Bashkan elections. They all respect the partners from Russia, but do not understand why these throw so much support to one candidate only. The people must understand that beyond politics there are the socioeconomic problems that remain and no foreigner will come to solve them.

According to the election runner, the region’s administration must not have political color, no matter who governs. The administration model in Gagauzia should be modified so that the Executive Committee becomes a professional one, while the Bashkan chooses his time at a contest, out of representatives of different political teams.

Nicolae Dudoglo noted that a stagey is being worked out for creating the People’s Bank of Gagauzia that will provide additional loans to farms and SMEs. A business incubator was opened in Ceadir-Lunga for training young people. As a result of these measures, more than 5,000 jobs will be set up. There will also be created a charity fund to support persons in need of costly treatment and surgery.

The elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. After two registered candidates withdrew, the race for the post of Bashkan now includes the following contenders: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.
