Candidates for post of Bashkan are put in unequal conditions, Leonid Dobrov

The contenders for the post of Bashkan (Governor) of Gagauzia are put in unequal conditions, said one of the candidates Leonid Dobrov. He has told IPN that the contenders who are businessmen and have money use electoral publicity to a greater extent than those without money.

The candidate said that for many years he struggled for ideas and values, not for money and now he is unable to place at least one poster to promote his image and electoral platform.

Leonid Dobrov also said that the campaign includes many of those who earned money in other states or in the capital city and now want to hold the post of Bashkan. “There are enough political guestarbeiters. It’s time to elect a local person, who lives here,” he stated.

Among his priorities, Leonid Dobrov named the federalization of Moldova and the recognition of the results of the February 2, 2014 referendum (where most of the participants voted for proclaiming the region’s independence if Moldova loses its sovereignty, e.n). Also, 5% of the country’s budget and of the grants from which the state benefits should be allocated to Gagauzia. In the parliamentary elections, Gagauzia should have five uninominal constituencies, while in the Government it should have five representatives.

The elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. After two registered candidates withdrew, the race for the post of Bashkan now includes the following contenders: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.
