Zimbru Chisinau will represent Moldova in the Europa League next season after securing the third placed in this year’s edition of the National Division, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On matchday 28, played on Friday, April 27, the Yellow Wolves defeated one of their main rivals for third place Iskra-Stal Rabnita, 1-0. Serghei Cuznetov netted the only goal of the match in the first half.
Dacia Chisinau and Sheriff Tiraspol continue the title race as both teams won again. Dacia bested Milsami Ursidos Orhei 2-1, while Sheriff thrashed Olimpia Balti 6-0, with Serbian forward Alexander Pesic on song as he scored a hat-trick.
The competition is intense at the bottom of the table, where 4 teams fight to avoid relegation. Bottom side FC Costuleni obtained the first victory in 2012, 1-0 against CSCA Rapid Ghidighici and can now hope to finish 10th, the last spot that will keep the team in the National Division.
Sfantul Gheorghe Suruceni obtained their first success of the year with a 1-0 win against Nistru Otaci and moved to 9th place. Academia UTM Chisinau remain on 11th position after a 1-1 draw with FC Tiraspol.
