The average gross monthly salary in the Republic of Moldova was approximately 16 thousand lei in 2025, an increase of 11.5% compared to the previous year. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the highest average gross salaries were in the information and communication sector – over 39 thousand lei, 2.5 times above the national average, reports IPN.

At the same time, the average net monthly salary reached over 13 thousand lei, being 11.6% higher than in 2024. Taking into account the evolution of consumer prices, the average gross salary increased in real terms by 3.4%. Moreover, after the information and communication sector, the highest salaries were recorded in financial and insurance activities – about 28 thousand lei, 77.5% above the national average. In the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas and hot water, the average salary was about 24 thousand lei, 53.6% above the country average.

On the other hand, the lowest average salaries were recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing, as well as in accommodation and public catering activities – over 10 thousand lei. In the field of arts, recreational and leisure activities, the average salary was over 11 thousand lei. However, BNS mentions that salaries have increased in all economic activities compared to 2024, with increases ranging between 8% and 54.6%. The highest increase was recorded in administrative services and support activities – 54.6%.

At the same time, the differences between the budgetary sector and the real one are maintained. The average gross salary in the budgetary sector exceeded 13 thousand lei, while in the real sector – over 16 thousand lei, 22% more.

BNS data also shows a difference between women’s and men’s salaries. In 2025, women had an average gross salary of 14 thousand lei, 15.4% lower than that of men, which was about 17 thousand lei. The biggest differences were in the information and communication sector, where men’s salaries were 36.6% higher, and in financial and insurance activities – with 36%.

At the same time, Chisinau was the only administrative-territorial unit where the average gross salary exceeded the national average. In the capital, this amounted to about 19 thousand lei. The lowest values were recorded in the Briceni, Nisporeni and Riscani districts – approximately 11 thousand lei.

At the end of last year, there were over 763 thousand employees in the Republic of Moldova, 3% more than at the end of 2024. The most significant increases in the number of employees were recorded in construction – with approximately 20%, in accommodation and public catering activities – with 15%, and in administrative and support services – with 13%.
