StarNet joins the initiative of the 65 countries worldwide that celebrate the Safer Internet Day on February 7, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the company.
Safer Internet Day is part of a global drive to promote a safer Internet for children and young people. It is held under the aegis of the Insafe – European Safer Internet Network and promotes safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.
”As an Internet provider, StarNet is interested in the safe use of this communication means that offers many chances and opportunities to those who use it. That’s why from 2011, when the partnership with Kaspersky Lab was launched, StarNet provides its clients with complete Internet safety solutions based on the newest technologies that protect agsissnt online threats and attacks,” said Octavian Hera, StarNet Marketing Director.
The Kaspersky products that can be bought in different forms are recommended as solutions for a wide range of needs. The home users can try Anti-virus or Internet Security licenses that, besides providing increased protection, allow defining profiles of users with special rights. For example, there is a profile for children called the parent control option, which automatically blocks access or redirection to other sites with pornographic content. This way, the Internet becomes safer for children.
”By promoting a Safer Internet, we hope to help the users realize the advantages as well as the risks of this means. We want to develop a more serious attitude towards the Internet and to promote responsible online activities. That’s why we aim to inform students, parents and teachers from the 22 high schools of Chisinau and Ungheni that are covered by the company’s We Appreciate Intelligence Project about these subjects throughout 2012,” said Irina Ghelbur, of StarNet’s PR Service.
The ninth edition of Safer Internet Day will be centered around the theme “Connecting generations and educating each other”, with the slogan: “Discover the digital world together… safely!”. It encourages families to work together to stay safe online.
