Raider attack on SRL “Transatlantic”

Lawyer Iulian Jovmir, who represents foreign investor Vitaliy Chebanov – a majority associate of SRL “Transatlantic” – in a news conference at IPN announced that a raider attack was staged on the company. According to the jurist, owing to an understanding reached with the main creditor, the company was able to resume work.

Iulian Jovmir said the raider attack was committed by two minority shareholders that appropriated the company’s assets by illegal schemes. The old administration sold two buildings and a plot of land at a price that was two times lower than the real one. The illegal transactions were identified as a result of a financial inspection. The company remained only with the registration certificate and the debts to the creditors.

The new administration managed yet to reach an agreement with the main creditor to which they owe almost 24 million lei. The creditor allowed SRL “Transatlantic” to repay the debts in a longer period of time. The company also managed to open a car service center.

Dorel Rusu, the representative of the largest creditor of SRL “Transatlantic”, said the debt of almost 24 million lei was accumulated during several years. In the period, the creditor supplied the company with vehicles and spare parts. Money for them wasn’t paid. The new administration of SRL “Transatlantic” gained the confidence of the creditor, which offered the company the chance to rehabilitate itself and to pay the debts.

Stefan Timofti, the new administrator of SRL “Transatlantic”, said that owing to an agreement reached with the largest creditor, the company was able to resume work and is now taking steps to nullify all the dubious transactions performed by the previous administration. “The company is not insolvent. It resumed work by opening a new service center,” he stated.

The participants in the conference said that they are being pressurized into giving up the lawsuits, while the company’s former administrations is interested in seeing SRL “Transatlantic” insolvent. However, the new administration wants to show to the foreign investor Vitaliy Chebanov that he will not lose his investments and that he can have confidence and invest more money in Moldova.
