Production Park “Valkanes” extends activity

The Cabinet endorsed a legislative proposal to extend the Free Enterprise Zone “Production Park “Valkanes” by over 92 hectares, IPN reports.

The 107 hectares that belong to the Free Enterprise Zone will be supplemented with a plot of 50.3 ha situated in Comrat municipality and a plot of 41.9 ha located in Ceadar-Lunga town. Thus, there will be created possibilities for the activity of two new subzones that are situated in industrial zones and that are connected to the necessary production infrastructure.

According to the authors, the proposal aims to accelerate the socioeconomic development of ATU Gagauzia and to stimulate the work of the production park. A number of foreign investors expressed their readiness to develop businesses in this free enterprise zone and to create new jobs, contributing thus to higher revenues into the local budgets.

The Free Enterprise Zone “Production Park “Valkanes” was created in Vulcanesti town in 1998.

Two commercial ships owned by Turkish companies were attacked by drones in the Black Sea, and several crew members were injured. The authorities in Ankara condemn the incidents and warn that the intensification of attacks on civil maritime transport could affect navigation safety and food supply, reports IPN.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the attacks took place after the ships left the Russian port of Novorossiisk on Monday evening. Several crew members were injured, and their condition is being monitored.

Ankara has expressed concern about the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea, emphasizing that the incidents affect civil maritime transport. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed to all parties involved to take urgent measures to ensure navigation safety, warning that risks to commercial routes could have consequences on food supply.

According to the MarineTraffic maritime traffic monitoring platform, the targeted ships – Yasar and Nadezhda – sail under the flags of Panama and Cameroon, but are owned by Turkish companies.
