President Igor Dodon signed a decree to constitute the Supreme Security Council of the Republic of Moldova. “In order to ensure the national security of the Republic of Moldova and to urgently address the pressing problems faced by our country, I decided to convoke the Supreme Security Council for June 11, 9am,” President Igor Dodon posted on Facebook.

Parliament established a bank fraud inquiry commission for elucidating all the circumstances all the circumstances of the robbing of the banking system and investigating the bank fraud. “The commission of inquiry will have access to the Second Kroll Report, which indicates those involved in the bank fraud, said Deputy Speaker Alexandru Slusari, who presented the relevant draft decision in Parliament.

According to Maia Sandu, all Moldova’s partners want the abuses, fear and destabilization to stop immediately. Both the Western partners and the people want a legitimate and democratic government that would ensure the implementation and extension of all the international commitments assumed by Moldova, first of all the Association Agreement with the EU.

According to a press statement of the U.S. Department of State, the February 24 parliamentary elections were competitive and respected fundamental rights. The will of the Moldovan people as expressed in those elections must be respected without interference.

NATO is following with concern the political crisis in the Republic of Moldova and calls on all political forces in the country to exercise calm and restraint. A statement by the NATO Spokesperson on the situation in the Republic of Moldova says the political forces should resolve their differences through dialogue, in full respect of the rule of law. “The Republic of Moldova’s democratically elected leaders need to work together to overcome this crisis,” runs the statement.

Ukraine expresses its concern about the political developments in Moldova and urges the ruling political forces to act within the legal framework and to solve the disputes through political dialogue so as to avoid a struggle for power. “It is important for the country and the security situation in the region to prevent external interference regarding the implementation of the Russian scenario for the country’s federalization,” says a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Moscow welcomes the formation of a ruling coalition and of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and expresses hope that the situation in Chisinau will normalize in the interests of all the Moldovans and of the progressive development of the country. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a dialogue that will involve all the responsible political forces is the only method for resolving the domestic political crisis in Moldova, in accordance with the generally accepted democratic principles.

Over 80 nongovernmental organizations that form the National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum urge the Constitutional Court to urgently reverse its decisions adopted during June 7-9 and “reinstate legality”. In a public statement issued today, the NGOs call for all constitutional judges to resign, so as to restore confidence in the Constitutional Court and to stabilize the situation in the country.

Prime Minister elect Maia Sandu, who heads the Party “Action and Solidarity”, said the messages of support for the Government invested on June 8 by the new parliamentary majority should be heard and understood, especially by the representatives of the Democrats’ government when these resort to protests. Deputy Prime Minister elect Andrei Năstase, president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, said public functionaries will start to be dismissed on June 10. Maia Sandu voiced hope that this duality of the power will end soon and things will become clearer the next few days.

The Democratic Party launches a campaign to collect signatures in favor of the dismissal of Igor Dodon from office of President. “The campaign was launched to fulfil the demands of the 30,000 people who on June 9, 2019 took part in a peaceful protest in the Great National Assembly Square to defend constitutionality and adopted a Resolution for Country Defense there. To implement his plan to sell the country, Igor Dodon, together with the Socialists and the Block ACUM, attempted a coup,” says a press release of the PDM.

The Government led by Maia Sandu held its first meeting in the Parliament Building on June 10. The meeting involved seven of the 12 members of the Cabinet and Prime Minister Maia Sandu specified that three of the new ministers are expected to return from abroad. At the start of the meeting, she noted the discussions with the PSRM didn’t center on Moldova’s federalization and she will send letters to the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the Venice Commission to familiarize these institutions with the Government’s position on the last Constitutional Court judgments that she considers arbitrary.

The Democratic Party has to demonstrate good will and unblock the state institutions before any dialog can happen. This was stated by ACUM MP Igor Grosu after the Democrats announced they wanted to talk. Igor Grosu said everybody expected the Democrats to call off all the “guys in sportswear” surrounding the government buildings and allow access to the newly appointed ministers and other government employees.
