The Democratic Party launches a campaign to collect signatures in favor of the dismissal of Igor Dodon from office of President on charges of betrayal of the country, illegal foreign financing accepted for the PSRM and usurpation of state power, IPN reports.

“The campaign was launched to fulfil the demands of the 30,000 people who on June 9, 2019 took part in a peaceful protest in the Great National Assembly Square to defend constitutionality and adopted a Resolution for Country Defense there. To implement his plan to sell the country, Igor Dodon, together with the Socialists and the Block ACUM, attempted a coup,” says a press release of the PDM.

The party considers that by this shameful betrayal, citizen Igor Dodon lost any legitimacy, especially after a whole country saw how he tried to implement a country federalization plan and how he admitted that the Socialists during the past few years have been illegally financed by the Russian Federation with tens of millions of dollars.

The Democrats said they will continue to take legal steps until President Igor Dodon, whom they consider illegitimate, vacates office. The PDM also requests Igor Dodon to tender his resignation and to appear before the people for judgment at snap presidential elections.
