Parliament establishes bank fraud inquiry commission

Parliament has established an inquiry commission to look into the infamous $1 billion bank fraud. This was the sole item on Parliament’s order of the day today.

“The inquiry commission will have access to the Second Kroll Report, which indicates those involved in stealing the billion”, Deputy Speaker Alexandru Slusari told Parliament.

Slusari went on to add that the work of the commission will not interfere with the ongoing investigation and that Parliament will cooperate with the law enforcement to elucidate the case.

The commission will have three months to hear relevant actors before issuing a report.

The commission will include MPs Vladimir Țurcanu (PSRM), Vladimir Golovatiuc (PSRM), Adrian Lebedinschi (PSRM), Alexandru Slusari (ACUM/DA), Dumitru Alaiba (ACUM/PAS) and Lilian Carp (ACUM/PAS).

The commission was established with the unanimous vote of 61 lawmakers of PSRM and ACUM attending the meeting.

Parliament’s work will continue Tuesday with the meeting of its Standing Bureau at 9:00 a.m., followed by a plenary meeting at 11:00 a.m.
