New gas rate takes effect

The natural gas is more expensive as from today, August 12. The decision by which the higher rate was approved by the National Agency for Energy Regulation took effect after being published in Official Gazette, IPN reports.

The consumers will pay 21.296 lei per cubic meter of gas without VAT (plus VAT of 8%).

SA “Moldovagaz” asked for a higher gas rate, saying the new tariff approved by the Agency does not cover the costs associated with the purchase, transportation and distribution of natural gas and continues generating tariff deviations.

In June, the natural gas rate for end users was raised to 17.24 lei per cubic meter without VAT (18.61 lei with VAT).
