Fines of over one million lei were imposed by the Environmental Protection Inspectorate following checks carried out at car washes across the country. During the period of March-July 2026, the inspectors conducted 477 planned and unannounced checks, as a result of which approximately 200 contravention sanctions were applied, reports IPN.

The checks were aimed at ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, including how wastewater resulting from car wash activities is managed and discharged.

The Minister of Environment, Gheorghe Hajder, emphasized that compliance with environmental legislation is not optional, but represents a shared responsibility. “It is not normal for water to reach the river with detergents or various chemical substances. Water must be treated,” the minister declared.

According to Gheorghe Hajder, the authorities support economic activity, but it must be conducted responsibly, without endangering the waters, soil, and environment. “Those who have not complied, must do so. Our message is clear: more actions to prevent pollution,” the minister conveyed.

The authorities announce that the checks will continue, and compliance with environmental legislation must become a rule for all economic operators.

Dorin Scobioala and Ecaterina Cheptanaru have been declared compatible with the position of general director of the public company Teleradio-Moldova and have been admitted to the interview stage. In the case of Andrei Zapsa and Sergiu Sandulescu, the Supervisory Council of TRM is to decide on their reconfirmation in the competition, after the Information and Security Service identified risk factors, reports IPN.

In the case of Andrei Zapsa, the Council took note of the SIS’s opinion on the compatibility check with the function and offered him the opportunity to explain the identified risk factors. The explanations are to be presented at a subsequent Council meeting. A similar decision was also made in the case of Sergiu Sandulescu.

The Supervisory Board is set to decide on the reconfirmation of the two candidates in the competition at the meeting on September 2. At the same time, Dorin Scobioala and Ecaterina Cheptanaru have been declared compatible and admitted to the second stage of the competition, which consists of an interview.

The competition for the position of General Director of TRM was suspended on July 17, after SIS requested additional checks on the four candidates admitted to the interview. SIS justified the need for checks due to security developments and the intensification of hybrid warfare actions on the national information space. Following the request, the TRM Supervision and Development Council postponed the interview stage until the checks were completed.

The competition was launched following the resignation of the former general director of TRM, Vlad Turcanu, in May 2026, in the aftermath of the scandal related to the scores given by the jury of the Republic of Moldova at the Eurovision contest.

Today, the first bell rang in schools across the country, marking the start of a new academic year. For over 27,500 children, it’s their first day of school, and more than 470 young specialists are stepping into the classroom for the first time as teachers, reports IPN.

The Ministry of Education and Research emphasizes that school is not just a space for accumulating knowledge, but also one where students learn to ask questions, collaborate, express themselves freely, and respect each other. It is also here that civic spirit and the values that contribute to the cohesion of society are formed.

The General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport in the city of Chisinau has sent a message to students on the occasion of the start of the school year, wishing them a period full of knowledge, experiences and discoveries. The institution encourages them to learn, to have confidence in their own strengths and to boldly follow their dreams.

In turn, the mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, wished the students a school year filled with new knowledge and achievements. The mayor also congratulated the students who chose Chisinau to continue their studies, as well as parents and teachers, whom he said, through their work and patience, contribute to the formation of the new generation.

The new academic year begins with the Decade of General Human Values, dedicated to human dignity, peace, and human rights. The first activity was the lesson “The Independence that Unites Us”, organized to mark the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence.
