The co-presidents of the electoral bloc NOW Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase say they have reasons to believe they have been poisoned with heavy metals including mercury. “I’d been feeling not so well in the recent past so I did some tests. I discovered I had high levels of heavy metals in my blood, and this happened to me and to Mr. Năstase, too. We underwent treatment that reduced those levels. But recent tests have shown another spike and the doctors we have spoken with say such accumulations don’t have a natural explanation. These are (mere) suspicions, but we should take such things seriously considering the attacks and the attitudes shown by the current government against those who imperil their grip on power,” Sandu told reporters.
The Party of Socialists (PSRM) requested the Central Election Commission (CEC) to issue a circular by which all the electoral functionaries would be warned about the inadmissibility of violating the secrecy of the vote. The people are imposed to photograph the ballots and to present the pictures to show how they voted, but the law bans this. These are corruption attempts that are punished criminally.

After the parliamentary elections of February 24, a center-left coalition “pro-Moldova” will be most probably formed in Parliament and this will follow the fourth path, expert Igor Boțan stated in the public debate “Elections 2019: Post-electoral scenarios…” staged by IPN News Agency as part of the series “Developing political culture through public debates”. “I think the PDM and the PSRM will go together and this is not related to geopolitics as the geopolitical problems were already solved. Both the Socialists and the Democrats say Moldova should not be in the middle in the confrontation between the West and the East. Both of the parties are pro-Moldova. The fourth path of the PDM is nothing else but concealed renouncement of the European integration, as regards the implementation of the conditions specified in the Association Agreement. Moldova follows the Association Agreement and the Socialists assert the same. Furthermore, Igor Dodon showed he is flexible as in 2012 he saved the European integration when he voted the President,” stated the expert.

I mean, if the outcome turns out bad, we could see suspended parties or candidates in various constituencies. The situation was quite different in the past. But now everything is possible”.
