The final stage of admission to the first and tenth grades. Hundreds of places available in the capital

From today until August 30, the third stage of enrollment for first grade is taking place. There are still 140 places available in the municipal educational institutions of Chisinau. During the same period, registration documents can be submitted for the tenth grade. The announcement was made by the deputy of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports, Andrei Pavaloi, at the operational meeting at the City Hall, reports IPN.

Andrei Pavaloi mentioned that the registration will be carried out exclusively in physical format. Parents who failed to register their child in the first two stages of the competition can submit the admission application directly to the institutions where there are available places. A similar situation applies to the tenth grade, where, currently, there are 480 available spots for enrollment, of which 217 are in public institutions.

“We are pleased to note that, with each passing year, parents are choosing municipal institutions over private ones. Indeed, there are quite a lot of unfilled places left in private institutions, which means that municipal institutions are providing parents with everything necessary for high-quality studies,” stated the deputy head of DGETS.

For enrollment in the first grade, the parent’s or legal representative’s identity card, the child’s birth certificate must be presented, and in the case of children with refugee status – the temporary residence certificate as well.

For high school admission, parents or candidates must submit the certificate of middle school studies or the academic record, a copy of the student’s identity document, a copy of the parent/legal representative’s identity document, as well as the application for enrollment addressed to the institution’s director.

A 44-year-old man from the capital has been detained and is under investigation in 12 criminal cases for an alleged real estate fraud scheme. According to law enforcement, the total damage exceeds three million lei, reports IPN.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the man is suspected of having misled several people between 2014-2025, promising them apartments and houses in the town of Bubuieci. However, even though he allegedly collected money from potential buyers, the promised properties were never built.

As a result of the searches carried out, documents deemed relevant to the criminal case were seized. The IGP mentions that the man was placed under arrest, and if found guilty, he faces a prison sentence of 7 to 10 years.

The ambassadors of the member states of the European Union have reached an agreement on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia. The decision will be formalized by the Council of the European Union and will come into effect after publication in the Official Journal of the EU, reports IPN.

Greece has renounced the use of its veto right, after member states accepted an exemption from the ban on transporting Russian liquefied natural gas. The sanction targeting liquefied natural gas is set to come into effect from January 2027, and the exemption that Greece will benefit from allows it to continue mediating Russian fuel transports for customers outside the European Union.

The attempt to restrict imports of fish and fishery products from Russia was abandoned due to the opposition of Portugal and Germany. Also, at the insistence of Bulgaria, two individuals were removed from the sanctions list: the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill, and the owner of Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, welcomed the agreement and mentioned that it still includes 32 Russian banks, cryptocurrency firms, and oil trading platforms, as well as ships involved in the so-called “shadow fleet”. The sanctions list now includes 250 individuals and over 660 Russian companies.

The head of the European executive emphasized that the ceiling price for Russian oil will be frozen at 44 dollars for a year, so that Russia cannot profit from the fluctuations of the stock market quotes. In turn, the President of the European Council, António Costa, characterized the new package as a decisive step in intensifying pressure on Russia.
