Less than one month remained until the announced date of the signing of the agreement of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Eurasian Economic Union, but the authorities haven’t yet provided information about the content of the document and haven’t commented on the impact that this can have on the relations between the states concerned and on Moldova’s relations with other partners.

After the trilateral-format meeting of February 21, President Igor Dodon told the journalists that he informed Prime Minister Pave Filip and Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu that he will sign an agreement of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Eurasian Union on April 3 or 4. The Speaker confirmed for the press that he received a draft document and said that this will be examined and details about it will be provided later.

Almost three weeks have passed since then, but neither the Government nor Parliament returned to the issue.

Contacted by IPN, head of the Parliament’s press service Liliana Anghel said the legislative body received a copy of the draft agreement of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Eurasian Union. A position on it will be made public after it is analyzed thoroughly.

Stela Nistor, the Government’s senior adviser on communication and press relations, has told IPN that the State Chancellery on February 23 received a letter by which President Igor Dodon informs that a memorandum of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Republic of Moldova will be signed at the beginning of April. The letter was transmitted to the ministries of economy, justice and of foreign affairs and European integration for examination.

The President’s adviser Andrei Neguta stated for IPN that the text of the agreement will be made public after the accord is signed.
