Over 400 students with special educational needs from 18 schools in the Republic of Moldova now have better conditions for integration into the education system. The institutions were equipped with equipment and assistive technologies within the project “We participate now!”, implemented by the organization Child, Community, Family (CCF).
The project is of pilot type and targeted schools in Balti municipality and the districts of Leova, Ungheni, Hincesti, Drochia and Straseni.
The “Mihai Viteazul” Theoretical High School in Straseni is the first institution in which a sensory room has been set up.”The room offers a rich environment of visual, auditory, tactile stimuli and helps students to explore and process information, improving the learning process”, the high school’s director, Ala Jereghi, told IPN.
This space benefits 29 students with special educational needs, including 8 children on the autism spectrum and one hearing-impaired child.
The project, with a budget of almost 800 thousand euro, is implemented in partnership with ChildFund Germany, the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) and the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC), financially supported by the German Ministry of Economy and Development.
