The Prosecutor General’s Office will assess the actions of the persons involved in maintaining the security of persons at the Chisinau International Airport on June 30, when a citizen of Tajikistan who was banned entry into Moldova grabbed the gun of a border police officer and opened fire, IPN reports.

At the request of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office, the attacker accused of double murder at the airport will be remanded in custody for 30 days. The man was injured in an exchange of fire during the siege and was hospitalized. His state of health worsened.

The criminal case started against the attacker is handled by the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office. The victims of the attacker are border police officer Sergey Muntean, 31, and aviation security officer Igor Ciofu, 40.

The Chinese company Yutong, one of the largest manufacturers of buses, coaches, trucks and special vehicles in China, is examining investment opportunities in the Republic of Moldova, including the possibility of local assembly of vehicles for the Moldovan market, reports IPN.

The subject was discussed during a meeting between the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the People’s Republic of China, Petru Frunze, and the representatives of the company.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in China, Petru Frunze emphasized that Moldova should be viewed not only as a market for distribution, but also as an attractive destination for investment in production and assembly.

The diplomat presented the investment advantages of the Republic of Moldova and mentioned that a potential investment in vehicle assembly could create jobs, contribute to the development of industrial skills, and generate additional revenue for the budget through taxes and duties.

The representatives of Yutong expressed their interest in the presented opportunities and announced that they will analyze the investment offer of the Republic of Moldova.

The Embassy clarifies that attracting investments that develop local production capacities and integrate the economy of the Republic of Moldova into international production chains represents one of the priorities of its activity.

The former temporary household waste site in the Ciocana sector of the capital will be equipped with a facility for capturing and burning the biogas generated by the landfill. The installation of the equipment has begun, which is expected to reduce emissions and the impact of the former landfill on the environment, reports IPN.

According to the City Hall of Chisinau, the installation will capture the biogas formed as a result of waste decomposition processes and will burn it under controlled conditions. The authorities maintain that this solution will allow for a more efficient management of the former pollution area and will contribute to its transformation into a site managed in accordance with European standards.

The municipality specifies that the works are part of the process of reclaiming the former landfill in Ciocana, and the project represents an example of closure and rehabilitation of waste deposits in accordance with modern environmental protection practices.
