On October 20, the citizens are invited to cast their ballots in the presidential election and in the constitutional referendum on the European path of the Republic of Moldova. At the beginning of the election campaign, the members of the Central Election Commission urged to ensure fairness, transparency, legality and respect for the citizens.

In a video message on the occasion of the start of the election campaign, CEC chairwoman Angelica Caraman says that “only through a respectful and decent electoral campaign, we can build citizens’ trust in the democratic process.” “Let’s unite to ensure fairness, respect and involvement. Regardless of beliefs, let’s maintain an honest attitude. The vote of each of us is our future,” said Angelica Caraman.

In the same video, CEC member Mircea Catîrău urges all political parties and candidates to conduct a fair campaign based on ideas and constructive proposals for the future of the country. Another CEC member Vadim Filipov said that every candidate has the right to a fair competition. He urged election contestants to respect their political opponents and provide the citizens with an example of civilized behavior.

“Dear supporters, be ambassadors of respect and dignity in this campaign. Talk to the people about ideas, not about division,” was the message of Rita Lefter-Simașco, CEC member. Her colleague Tatiana Barburoș urged to observe the electoral rules so as to ensure a healthy democracy.

Pavel Postica, deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission, called upon the journalists, information providers, to correctly treat all the cases of election campaign financing.
