Institutions will be able to test their level of cyber security through the national platform “Iris”, based on artificial intelligence, which was launched by the Association of Students in Information Security, with the support of the Cybercor research center. The new system simulates cyber attacks to identify vulnerabilities in the digital networks of public and private institutions, reports IPN.
By simulating attack scenarios, “Iris” can detect weak points in digital platforms and offers recommendations for their remediation.
The initiators of the project assert that the platform comes as a response to the increase in the number of cyber attacks and disinformation attempts. According to the developers, last year approximately 14 million attack attempts on digital infrastructure were recorded, and the authorities had to block around 4 thousand websites to protect state services, including those used in electoral processes. Also, disinformation actions in the online environment were reported, leading to the removal from social networks of over 300 thousand fake accounts used in manipulation and destabilization campaigns.
The representatives of the project assert that “Iris” will contribute to strengthening digital resilience and aligning with European standards in the field of cyber security, including in the context of implementing new requirements for the protection of networks and information systems.
