About 4,700 voters had cast their ballots by 12:00 PM in the three localities where the second round of new local elections is taking place today. According to the Central Election Commission, the highest turnout was recorded in the municipality of Orhei, where voter turnout exceeded 12%, IPN reports.

According to CEC data, 11.28% of registered voters had cast their ballots by noon.

The Commission notes that the election is proceeding as usual, and polling stations will remain open until 09:00 PM.

The second round of the new local elections will be held on Sunday to elect mayors in the commune of Rusestii Noi in the Ialoveni district, the municipality of Orhei, and the city of Taraclia.

The founder and administrator of a tourism company in the capital has been detained, being criminally investigated for fraud. According to law enforcement, several families would have been defrauded of approximately one million lei, after they paid for holiday packages they never benefited from, reports IPN.

The General Inspectorate of Police states that the victims have approached the law enforcement and complained that they were misled by the representatives of the travel company. They claim that they purchased travel vouchers, however, the trips did not take place.

A criminal case has been initiated on this matter. According to the law, the offense of fraud is punishable by imprisonment from four to eight years.

Law enforcement continues investigations to determine if there are any other victims and to recover the damage.

The Parliament has taken note of the resignation of the Action and Solidarity Party deputy Alexandr Trubca. The decision was approved in Thursday’s legislative session, reports IPN.

The President of the Parliamentary Legal Commission for Appointments and Immunities, Veronica Rosca, specified that the reason for the departure is not indicated in the resignation request. “Everyone has the right to resign without invoking a reason,” the deputy stated.

The next candidate on the PAS substitute list is the Minister of Environment, Gheorghe Hajder, however, he has declined the deputy mandate in order to continue his work in the Government. Thus, the vacant mandate goes to Roman Rosca, who holds the position of State Secretary in the Bureau of Reintegration Policies.

Alexandr Trubca announced that he resigns from his parliamentary mandate following the controversies related to a real estate investment in Trușeni commune. The deputy stated that the investment is legal and does not generate a conflict of interest, but he believes that his economic activity affects the image and credibility of the party he is part of.
