China imposes 84% tariffs on US goods

China’s Ministry of Finance has announced additional tariffs of 84% on all products imported from the United States. The duties will go into effect on Thursday, April 10, starting at 12:01 am US local time, IPN reports.

The additional tariffs from Beijing come as the 104% US tariffs on China’s imports from the US went into effect today.

At the same time, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce added 12 US entities to the export control list and six US entities to the “unsafe entities” list, Reuters reports.

Shortly afterward, US President Donald Trump came out with a reaction on social media: ‘it’s a great time to move your company to the US, as Apple and many others are doing in record numbers’.

A 14-year-old teenager is alleged to have been forced to beg in CIS states and the European Union, after being illegally adopted in the Nisporeni district in 2012. The PCCOCS prosecutors and the officers of the Center for Combating Human Trafficking are investigating the case, which targets the adoptive parents of the girl and a female doctor, reports IPN.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the girl was allegedly forced by her adoptive parents to beg in a wheelchair, even though she could walk independently. Law enforcement claims that she was made to beg instead of attending school.

As part of the investigation, with the support of the employees of the Special Purpose Police Brigade “Fulger”, searches were carried out at the homes of the adoptive parents. A doctor was also accused, who was allegedly involved in the illegal adoption process of the child in 2012.

After the exposure of the alleged child trafficking scheme through begging, the girl was placed in a care center in the Republic of Moldova, where she receives the necessary assistance.

The criminal case has been under investigation since January by the authorities in Chisinau, in cooperation with the authorities in Timisoara and with the support of the European agency SELEC.
