Electricity purchased at an average price of €137 in February

In February, SA Energocom purchased a total of approximately 403,000 MWh of electricity at a weighted average price of €137.53/MWh. The majority of the electricity supply – 61.01% – was imported, IPN reports.

According to Energocom, the average price of €137.53 is below the purchase price cap of €145/MWh set by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).

Additionally, the European Commission allocated a grant to Moldova, with €10 million designated for the right bank of the Dniester to lower the cost of electricity purchased from Romania’s PZU market (OPCOM and BRM). If this subsidy is applied, the final cost of electricity purchased in February will decrease from €137.53/MWh to €112.78/MWh.

The share of domestic electricity production in total purchases last month was 38.99%, including: 131,000 MWh (32.61%) generated by CHP plants in Chisinau and Balti, nearly 26,000 MWh (6.38%) from renewable energy parks and power stations.

“Urban heating plants and some renewable energy producers have tariffs set by ANRE. For renewable energy producers operating on the free market, the purchase price is regulated by Order No. 1 of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, dated December 27, 2024,” stated an official press release.

Energocom also clarifies that purchase prices include additional taxes and costs related to transportation and logistics.

A new section of Muncesti Road has entered the rehabilitation process. The City Hall of Chisinau announces that the milling works on the roadway have begun on the sector between Arca Moldovei Street and Bacioii Noi Street, a stage that precedes the complete modernization of the asphalt surface, reports IPN.

On this section, with an area of approximately 23 thousand square meters, two layers of asphalt concrete are to be applied, the stormwater drainage channels are to be rehabilitated, and the shoulders are to be arranged with crushed stone.

In parallel, on the sector between Arca Moldovei Street and Iuri Gagarin Boulevard, the rehabilitation works using Slurry Seal technology are nearing completion. During this period, the second layer, the wear layer, is being applied, which serves to protect the road surface and extend its service life.

According to the municipality, after the completion of the works, Muncesti Road will have a modernized roadway, with better traffic conditions and an increased level of safety for traffic participants.
