The access of heavy-duty transportation at border crossing points remains restricted until Saturday, February 7, at 06:00 AM, reports IPN, citing a notification from the Border Police.

“Starting from today, at 08:00 PM, and until February 9, at 08:00 PM, across the entire country, sleet will persist, and ice will form on the roads, which can hinder traffic and increase the risk of road accidents. As a result of the exchange of information with the State Road Administration (SRA), the circulation of heavy-duty transport will be suspended until 06:00 AM, on February 7,” the authority specifies.

According to the notification, access to the Republic of Moldova for large tonnage vehicles is temporarily suspended until traffic conditions improve. Drivers are urged to avoid non-essential travel, to exercise maximum caution and to inform themselves from official sources.

The railway siding in Iargara, Leova district, has been repaired and put back into operation, becoming available for goods unloading operations. Moldova’s Railway specifies that the use of sidings provides efficient logistical solutions for transport operators and economic agents, facilitating the transport and distribution of construction materials, reports IPN.

According to CFM, this type of railway infrastructure contributes to the optimization of supply chains, by reducing the dwell time of wagons and improving loading and unloading operations.

The company notes that rail transport allows for the receipt of large quantities of construction materials at competitive costs. At the same time, deliveries can be planned within predictable timeframes, regardless of weather conditions or season, and businesses can benefit from transshipment and storage services tailored to their needs.

Currently, CFM has 19 functional platforms for unloading gravel and other bulk materials used in construction. The platforms are located in Basarabeasca, Comrat, Taraclia, Cahul, Bender-2, Cainari, Revaca, Rogojeni, Floresti, Falesti, Rautel, Mateuti, Drochia, Bratuseni, Lipcani, Valcinet, Cimislia, Causeni and Iargara.

Young man detained after allegedly setting a police car on fire, in Comrat

A 33-year-old young man has been detained, suspected of setting fire to a police service vehicle in the city of Comrat. The General Inspectorate of Police states that, as a result of the fire, the vehicle was severely damaged, reports IPN.

A criminal case for aggravated hooliganism was initiated on this case.

According to the IGP, the man is also targeted in three other criminal cases pending in the courts. He is accused of driving a vehicle while in a state of advanced intoxication, large-scale theft, as well as threatening or applying violence to a person in a position of responsibility.
