Almost 357 thousand inhabitants of the Transnistrian region hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova

At the end of last year, the State Population Register recorded 364,885 residents domiciled in the Transnistrian region. Of these, almost 357 thousand hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN.

According to the data from the Public Services Agency, out of the total number of people, 298,851 possess internal use identity documents, and 337,516 hold the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, the records of the State Population Register include 8,052 foreign individuals, including holders of permanent and provisional residence permits, stateless persons, refugees, beneficiaries of humanitarian protection, as well as persons recorded who have entered the Republic of Moldova through the Transnistrian region, crossing the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border.

The demographic data indicates a balanced structure of the population, with 172,943 men and 191,942 women. The age structure reveals a predominantly mature population, approximately 60% being between the ages of 20 and 59, while people aged 60 and over represent about a quarter of the total.

The Bureau of Reintegration Policies specifies that the process of documenting the inhabitants from the left bank of the Dniester reflects the constant commitment of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to facilitate their reintegration within the national legal framework, by ensuring access to public services and guaranteeing fundamental rights.

A pavilion with 100 stalls will be built in the “Angro” sector of the Central Market, in the access area from Mitropolit Varlaam street, where the current metal stalls are located. The modernization project was approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council, reports IPN.

The interim director of the municipal enterprise, Vasili Popa, stated that the project is part of the modernization concept of the Central Market, approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council in 2020. The investment is estimated at over 37 million lei and will be covered by the enterprise’s own resources.

According to him, the modernization of the “Angro” sector is necessary because traders are currently operating in metal stalls without a roof, which no longer meet current conditions and do not provide an adequate level of comfort and safety for sellers and buyers.

The works will be carried out in two stages, so that the activity of the economic agents can continue during the interventions. Currently, about half of the places in this sector are occupied. The project completion deadline is at most two years.
