A tragedy was narrowly avoided on Saturday in the Rîbnița district of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, where three children and two pensioners were rushed to the hospital in serious condition, after being poisoned due to a gas leak in a residence, reports IPN.

According to local press, there were two houses in the same yard: in one, the parents spent the night, and in the other – the children with their grandparents. In the morning, the head of the family found his relatives unconscious and called an ambulance.

One of the children was taken to intensive care, while the other two were admitted to the pediatrics department. The two retirees also required medical attention.

The population is urged to use gas installations prudently, to check them periodically, and to rely exclusively on authorized specialists for installation and repairs.

Just a few days ago, a 36-year-old woman lost her life in the town of Vulcănești, in the south of the country, after she was poisoned by toxic gases accumulated in her home, as a result of the improper installation of the exhaust system from the gas heating unit.
