Access to the Forest Festival, which will take place on September 14 at the Presidential Residence in Condrita, remains free. However, the public is invited to purchase a symbolic ticket, worth 100 lei, as part of a fundraising campaign for the rehabilitation of the Molovațet stream area, located near the villages of Suhuluceni, Coropceni, and Ghermanesti, reports IPN.

The campaign organizer, Ecopresa, specifies that the lake which supplied the local community has dried up, and the residents have already organized a festival to draw attention to this issue. Now, thanks to a project won together with partners, they will benefit from a specialized study, sanitation actions, and tree planting. The funds obtained from the sale of symbolic tickets to the Forest Festival will be used entirely for the purchase of seedlings and the organization of plantings, the Ecopresa team specifies.

At the first edition of the festival, the campaign allowed the collection of necessary funds for 500 trees: 400 were planted in Banestii Noi, and another 100 beech saplings were given to SA Moldsilva for planting in the “Plaiul Fagului” reserve.

The Forest Festival 2025 is organized by the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Association of Environmental Journalists, and with the support of Slovenia. The event is part of the National Reforestation Program, launched in 2023 under the auspices of President Maia Sandu, which envisages the planting of approximately 145 thousand hectares of forests over the next 10 years, to increase the reforestation rate of the Republic of Moldova.

At present, the country’s afforestation rate is approximately 11%, significantly below the European average, which is around 39%.
