3-year-old survives fall from third floor

A 3-year-old boy suffered severe injuries after falling from the third floor of an apartment building on Milescu Spataru Street in Chisinau.

Dr. Eufalia Negreata of the Chisinau Emergency Service has told Info-Prim Neo that the child was left unattended. The impact with the ground wasn’t fatal, but it caused cerebral contusion and spinal injuries for the child. The boy was admitted to the intensive care section at Valentin Ignatenco Hospital.

A 53-year-old woman was found hanged in her apartment on Tighina Street. Circumstantial evidence showed it was suicide.

On Tuesday, the number of cases of brief loss of consciousness in the street due to the hot weather rose almost thrice to 80.

Eufalia Negreata says that the weather has already started to become adverse for chronic patients, affecting especially those suffering from heart disorders. Doctors advise children and the elderly to avoid exposure to the sun between 11:00 and 16:00. Regardless of the age, people should drink at least two liters of water each day and wear light and loose-fitting clothing. People should also protect themselves with sunglasses and headdress.

Doctors recommend not to sunbathe during midday hours and use skin protection sun lotions. On torrid days, it should be avoided to drink coffee, sweet beverages, alcohol, and eat food rich in fats; instead it is recommended to eat fresh fruit and vegetables and drink natural juices.

On Tuesday, the Chisinau Emergency Service recorded 775 calls, including one case of sunstroke, 49 cases of trauma, and 6 brain strokes. A 39-year-old man died of chronic alcoholism.

At least 17 people were killed and 44 injured in Kiev as a result of drone and ballistic missile attacks launched by Russia. According to Ukrainian authorities, the bombings targeted several logistic warehouses, reports IPN.

The air raid alert lasted for over an hour, and the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, announced that search and rescue operations are underway, as several missing persons might be under the rubble. The mayor added that firefighters are responding to fires that broke out in warehouses and logistics spaces. The Ukrainian army claims that one of the attacks caused an ammonia leak, and special teams have been dispatched to fix the damage.

Representatives of the air forces have stated that during the attacks, 4 Zircon missiles, 24 Iskander missiles and 115 drones were used, and that the anti-aircraft defense destroyed 98 drones. Ukraine is facing a critical shortage of anti-missile ammunition and insists on receiving more interceptors from allies, including the production license for American Patriot missiles.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that military operations would have targeted seven warehouses in Kiev and on the outskirts of the city used for military purposes. Also, three cargo ships near Odessa would have been attacked, which Russian officials claim would have transported weapons destined for Ukraine.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian army has continued its bombing campaign on Wildberries warehouses in Russia. On Tuesday night into Wednesday, the target was a logistics hub in the Tula region, used among other things for the supply of military equipment, according to Ukraine. This is the 12th warehouse attacked in the past week. The operation was confirmed by the governor of the Russian region, who added that two factories in the area were also targeted by drones.
