Zinaida Greceanyi may remain PCRM’s candidate, analysts
The leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin may propose again Zinaida Greceanyi for the post of head of state in order to put the three MPs who left the party in a difficult situation, consider political analysts. In the program Fabrica on Publika TV, they said that Igor Dodon made a calculated move when he defected from the PCRM and wouldn’t have left if he hadn’t known that Zinaida Greceanyi will be fielded for the post of President, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Political analyst Nicolae Chirtoaca considers that in several days Zinaida Greceanyi will be put forward for head of state. “Dodon wouldn’t have taken this step if he hadn’t known that Greceanyi will be suggested for the post. The next days she will be registered as a candidate for the presidency,” he stated.
On the other hand, political analyst Viorel Cibotaru said that a foreign factor would have hastened Igor Dodon’s defection from the PCRM. “He made this move basing on studies. He does not intend to enter the PL or PLDM. It is a calculated step. I don’t think he took it without consulting the party leaders before this. He may support the candidacy of Zinaida Greaceanyi or the political project Marian Lupu, if it wouldn’t do harm to his own political project,” said Viorel Ciubotaru, adding the PCRM suffered a serious defeat when Igor Dodon left.
Political analyst Igor Botan said that Dodon and Greceanyi are Moscow’s favorites and the PCRM should better take part in the voting. “It will anyway remain an influential party on the political arena. More people may leave the PCRM, but not swiftly. Dodon is not the solution, but he has potential and should make use of it,” said Igor Botan.
Analyst Anatol Taranu said that Vladimir Voronin still can propose Zinaida Greceanyi for the post of head of state in order to take revenge on those who left. “If Moscow is behind Dodon’s leaving, it means that it is no more interested in Voronin and the PCRM. The PCRM no more holds the controlling interest. Dodon’s defection means the end of hegemony. The great split started. Voronin is anxious as he received a blow,” said Anatol Taranu.
However, Igor Botan considers that leader of the PCRM wasn’t surprised by Igor Dodon’s defection as he knew what will happen, but pretended that he didn’t.
On November 4, lawmakers Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuc left the Communist parliamentary group, arguing they want to help elect the head of state so as to avoid early elections, reform the government and ensure political and economic stability.
