About 100 papers of investigations on the phenomenon of migration and fighting trafficking in human beings had been published by the “Ziarul de Garda” newspaper within the frameworks of the “Anti-exodus” project, organized by the newspaper. On the occasion of its second anniversary, “Ziarul de Garda” organized on Friday, July 28 a conference on the subject “Press for Combating illicit emigration”. At the conference, the team of the newspaper offered details about the investigation process of the subjects tackled within the campaign, about the problems occurred because of the lack of transparency on behalf of law enforcement bodies, which despite the proofs presented by the reporters of ZG refuse to initiate legal proceedings in the cases which could contribute to fighting the phenomenon of illegal exodus and trafficking in human beings. In this context, the director of the newspaper, Alina Radu presented the example of the Ministry of Internal Affairs which initiated proceedings on 300 cases of trafficking. The Prosecution Office confirmed penal grounds in over 100 cases, though only one person was convicted, this being only an intermediary. According to the editor-in-chief, Aneta Grosu, during those 2 years of activity “Ziarul de Garda”, tackled a series of goals in the frameworks of the campaign, including identifying procurers and methods used by them, as well as the causes of migration. “It is very important to offer hope and perspectives to someone who wants to stay in the country”, Aneta Grosu declared. The independent weekly publication “Ziarul de Garda” has a circulation of 5 thousand printed copies.
