The problems of Moldovan youth and the ways to solve them have been the topic of the latest “Dialogue Place” talk-show on Radio Moldova, IPN reports.
Sergiu Stanciu, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, said that there are three major problems faced by the young Moldovans: unemployment, access to well-paying jobs and access to quality studies. The official admitted that the 2010-2014 Youth Development Strategy wasn't fully implemented, mainly because of “inter-communication issues between state institutions”.
According to Stanciu, while the authorities could have done more, some good things were achieved nonetheless, such as promoting the youth's rights to employment. A new strategy for the youth sector in Moldova is currently under development. “I think we're on the right path. Our young people are livelier and more active”, he concluded.
Ioana Isac, communication manager of the National Youth Council, said the main problem of young Moldovans is the lack of trust on the part of adults. “If you want to assert yourself and do something in this regard, you'll be told that you must reach a certain age to talk to certain persons. I think solving youth's problems shouldn't be the task of solely the Ministry of Youth and Sports”, argued Isac.
Adrian Balutel, deputy chairman of the National Youth Council, said the collaboration between the Council and the government is satisfactory. “Although the results are far from what we expected, there is a positive change on the the authorities' part regarding the solving of youth problems. I think stronger policies are needed to protect young people from the vices of smoking and alcohol consumption”, concluded Balutel.
