The two young men, who in September splashed paint on the walls of the Government Building, were convicted of hooliganism. One of them was given 1 year and 6 months in prison, and the other one – 1 year and 4 months in prison. The prison sentences were suspended for a probationary period of two years, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office, on September 27, at around 04:00 a.m., the defendants aged 20 and 22 went to the central entrance of the Government Building and splashed paint on the door and walls of the institution, running away.
The defendants fully admitted their guilt and the case was examined according to a simplified procedure.
The court also obliged the two to pay 35,000 lei in respect of non-pecuniary damages.
The sentence given by the Buiucani Court of Chisinau City is not final and can be challenged.
