Young Moldovans with Russian citizenship can lose their lives in Ukraine

Russia has learned how to get rid of migrants - to send them to war in Ukraine, headlines the Belarusian publication in exile “Наша Нива”, IPN reports.

Such an approach derives from the statements of the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, who said that 30,000 migrants with Russian citizenship were “gathered” and 10,000 of them were already sent to war. The official spoke about this at the International Legal Forum in St. Petersburg.

“We caught more than 30,000 [migrants] who adopted (Russian) citizenship, but evaded conscription. We registered them and about 10,000 were already sent to the area of the special military operation (at war in Ukraine - IPN),” said Alexander Bastrykin said, according to RIA Novosti.

He noted that the Russian state should change its migration policies and rely more on “domestic resources” in solving “political, economic, national and other problems”, Radio Free Europe also reported in relation to the subject, specifying that at the end of 2023, the Russian authorities began to withdraw the citizenship granted to migrants who refuse to participate in the war in Ukraine. At the same time, Russian police raids against migrant workers have also become more frequent.

Bastrykin repeatedly spoke out against migrants and advocated tougher migration legislation. The official suggested that people who also have other citizenship besides the Russian one are good at “digging trenches and creating fortifications”, which “require really good labor force”. “Now they are part of our logistical backup troops,” added the head of the Investigative Committee.
