Young men reluctant to enroll in National Army
The conscription task of the municipality of Chisinau for this autumn constitutes 420 recruits. Until now, local authorities carried out the conscription task to 70%.
The mayor of Chisinau city, Vasile Ursu declared at a meeting organized on Monday, October 16 at the City Hall that “there is a great conscription potential in Chisinau”, thus there should be no difficulties in carrying out the conscription task. The responsible situation from suburbs will be called “to report on the situations” when young men did not come to the medical commission of young recruits.
According to the legislation in force, starting from September 1, the medical-military conscription commission works within the frameworks of the Military Center of Chisinau. Until now, 1151 young men were called at the commission, and only 892 of them came to be checked. Of them 295 are capable of performing military service, which constitutes 70% of the conscription task. 164 were sent to the medical examination, and 234 of them were declared incapable, 52 were sent to treatment.
According to the conscription program of the Government, for the autumn of 2006, 1385 young men will perform the compulsory military service, including in the National Army, 850 – in the Border Guards Service and 825 – in the Carabineer Troops.
For the military service with reduced term it is planned to enroll up to 25 recruits in the National Army and 50 recruits – in the Border-Guards Service.
