Young man who killed two teens in road accident on January 14 will be tried in Cojusna village

The young man to blame for the death of two adolescents and injury of another six in a traffic accident on January 14 will be tried in Cojusna village, Straseni district, which is the place of residence of the victims. The trial will take place in the building of the House of Culture. This information was provided by residents of the village, who made reference to the Straseni police, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Lilia Danila, a teacher working in Cojusna village, the tragedy happened on January 14 at about 20.00. Constantin Mandrescu, 22, was driving a VAZ-2101. Speeding up on the village’s main street, he lost the control of the steering wheel and the car turned upside down on the opposite walkway, hitting a group of teenagers walking along the pavement. After the accident, the driver abandoned the vehicle and disappeared. The cited source says that the young man was seen several hours earlier making dangerous turns in the centre of the village. He mounted and descended the stairs of the House of Culture in the car where there were his brother, the brother-in-law and a friend of his. The teacher considers that the witnesses of these stunts bear part of the blame for the accident because the driver was under the influence of alcohol and they did not announce the police. Lilia Danila said that the accident was stupid because the young man, encouraged by his passengers, wanted to scare a group of carolers, most of whom girls. Owing to the high speed, the car hit the kerb. The wheel support system broke down and the car went out of control, striking the group of adolescents and killing two of them: Dana Botan and Ruslan Nani both aged 15. Coroner medics ascertained that the girl died several fractions of seconds before hit. Her heart stopped beating when she saw the car moving towards them. The boy lived for 40 minutes more. The four men in the car sustained no injuries. The driver ran away, while the other three tried to help the victims, begging them not to call the police. An injured teen living nearby called the ambulance and the police.
