The young man who applied physical violence against a girl, for allegedly stealing a pair of sneakers, was detained for 72 hours. During questioning, the 21-year-old man, a resident of the village of Săseni, Călărași district, acknowledged his deed.

The police will interview the witnesses present at the scene. The young man told police that the incident took place two weeks ago.

Asked by IPN, the General Police Inspectorate press officer, Mariana Bețivu, said that the teenage victim claims to know the young man's sister and was visiting her. When the victim left, the young man's sister would have allowed her to wear her sneakers, because the victim was wearing some slippers.

The 21-year-old is being detained in the Călărași isolator. According to the press officer, the mother of the assaulted girl did not know what happened until yesterday, because her daughter hid it. Everything has come to light after the video recordings were made public on social networks. The woman filed a complaint.

The 14-year-old victim was subjected to forensic expertise in order to determine the severity of the bodily injuries.

A criminal investigation for aggravated hooliganism was initiated, while the suspect risks between three to seven years in prison.

The press wrote that the villagers have only words of praise for the young man who assaulted the girl, claiming that he would be a good and hard working man. The villagers claim that it is not the first time when the teenager is accused of theft and that she is part of a vulnerable family, where alcohol is consumed.
