A young man from Telenești was sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexually exploiting a teenage girl. He got acquainted with her on social media while in Germany and persuaded her to send him nude videos. When he returned to the country, he videotaped the sexual relations he had with the 16-year-old. When the girl decided to end the relationship with him, on the grounds that the young man was violent, he threatened her with a firearm and sent the intimate video images to her relatives, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said that, according to the teenager’s statements, they also communicated online in 2019, but for a short period of time. After graduating from the secondary school and starting their studies, at the end of 2021 they resumed communication. At the time, the girl was 16 years old, and the 20-year-old man convinced her to send him videos in which she appeared nude. When he returned from Germany, he recorded, without the teenager’s consent, videos in which they had sex. The defendant used them as manipulation, threatening to publish them on the internet and send them to relatives and other close people if she refused to have sex. The young man gave her an iPhone as a gift and imposed control over the girl’s communications and accounts.

In the winter of 2023, when the teenager decided to end the relationship, the defendant sent the intimate images to the teen’s parents, cronies and neighbors. Upon receiving the files, the teen’s parents went to her place of living and studying, where they discussed and then notified the authorities.

In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant is to pay 200,000 lei in respect of non-pecuniary damages. Also, the Telenești branch of the Orhei Court ordered that the defendant should pay 15,000 lei in respect of pecuniary damages.
